Laura Lazarevich

Laura Lazarevich has inspired choral excellence in hundreds of students over a 15 year career. She is the founding artistic director of the South Loudoun Youth Chorale where she conducts the high school singers and leads audition workshops. Mrs. Lazarevich previously taught high school chorus for 14 years in Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun counties. Her groups consistently earned Superior ratings, and her singers were regularly selected for honor choirs at the District, State and National levels.

Earning a reputation for inspiring musical excellence and passion-driven performances, Mrs. Lazarevich is frequently sought as choral adjudicator and guest conductor. She has conducted Honor Choirs throughout the state of Virginia including District I, District II, District X, District XII, Prince William All-County Chorus, Chesterfield All-County Chorus and the Diocesan Choir Festival.

Mrs. Lazarevich is an active member of the Virginia Music Educator's Association (VMEA) and the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA.)  She served as the ACDA Southern Division Senior High School Repertoire and Resources Chair from 2017-2021. In 2017, she served as Chairperson of the Virginia Choral Directors Association (VCDA) sight reading assessment committee to develop the guidelines and procedures that are currently in place for all choral programs in the state of Virginia. Mrs. Lazarevich has received several recognitions throughout her career. In 2012, she received the ACDA Southern Region Colleen Kirk Award for excellence in the first three years of teaching. Additionally, Mrs. Lazarevich was presented with the Outstanding Early Career Music Educator Alumni Award from James Madison University in 2013.

Mrs. Lazarevich received her Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University and her Masters of Music Education from Florida State University where she studied with Kevin Fenton, Judy Bowers, and Andre Thomas.  She is an active member of Caritas NoVa, a local women’s chamber ensemble with the mission of charitable concerts for local non-profit organizations. Mrs. Lazarevich currently resides in Aldie, Virginia with her husband, Pete, and children, Carson and Claire.
